We are announcing two exciting PhD positions to contribute to meadow bird conservation in West Africa within our project. This research is a collaboration between the Dutch University of Groningen (RUG) and the Senegalese Nature Communauté Developpement (NCD). The successful candidates will share their time equally between the Netherlands and Senegal.
About the job openings
PhD position #1 will work on the topic “Agro-Ecological Rice Systems for Wetland Conservation and Management in West Africa”, while PhD position #2 focuses on “Habitat use by the Black-tailed Godwit in Senegal, West Africa”.
Each candidate will be offered a 4-year contract with a remuneration based on the terms of employment and benefits of RUG (see terms) for a maximum of two years, and a remuneration based on the terms of employment of Senegalese universities for the time during which the candidates will be based in Saint Louis, Senegal.
The successful candidates will closely collaborate with the University Gaston Berger (UGB, Saint Louis, Senegal) and the Lower Saxony Water Management, Coastal and Nature Protection Agency (NLWKN, Lower Saxony, Germany), primarily on the different aspects of developing the West African transnational Conservation Plan.
